Whistle that imitates the stress call of a bird recognized by foxes! Specifically designed to mimic the sound of injured/stressed birds. These sounds are very effective for hunting foxes and other predators. This whistle imitates the stress call of a bird, such as a woodpecker, a sound that all foxes recognize. This sound is particularly attractive for luring young foxes. A young fox may have never hunted a rabbit, but the vixen often brings small birds to her young, so they are familiar with these sounds. The whistle is easy to use and works particularly well in summer and autumn when rabbit distress calls are often less effective. The reason for this is likely that young foxes need to be cautious not to become victims themselves when approaching the stress call of a larger prey animal, which may mean being attacked by larger predators like an eagle, lynx, or other adult foxes. To imitate the stress call of the woodpecker: blow strong, short, quick bursts or a hard "trrrr, trrrr, trrrr" into the whistle. To imitate the stress call of smaller birds: blow gently and let the air flow in and out of the whistle. When you then blow a steady stream of air through the whistle, you will produce a very realistic stress call of a wild rabbit. Call for 15-30 seconds and then sit still for 1-2 minutes, then repeat with 10-20 seconds of calling. Call for 15-20 minutes per set.
