Multipurpose, Assisted, Generational, Innovative Cutlery - short M.A.G.I.C. refers to the new, patented opening mechanism of these knives by Taylor Cutlery. Essentially, two patents stand behind the name: The first (US PAT 6651344) deals with the well-thought-out, spring-assisted opening mechanism. To release the blade from the handle, a certain resistance must be overcome until the spring can transfer your pressure to the blade and thus open the knife. This resistance can be overcome either with the help of the thumb pin on the blade or conveniently via the trigger on the spine of the blade. The trigger is not, as is usually the case, a rigid protrusion of the blade, but a movable element that transmits the pressure while remaining in its position. Compared to normal, spring-assisted pocket knives where the spring is often wound around the blade screw, in the M.A.G.I.C. system, a rod spring that is tensioned along the entire length of the handle takes on this task. The second patent is the locking mechanism (US PAT 6276063). The unobtrusive and easily operable one-handed safety slider is located on the side of the handle. This presses on a metal ball that securely fixes the blade and handle together. This works both in the closed and open states. The blade is made of 4034 stainless steel.
