The hunting match barrels are available in various calibers, specifically in the caliber groups: Mini, Standard, Medium, and Magnum. The reason for the classification of the barrels is the modular Blaser principle. The Blaser R8 systems and stocks can be individually combined with different barrel types in various calibers. Only when changing the caliber group is it necessary to swap the chamber head of the bolt. Additionally, the barrels are manufactured with and without a barrel thread M 18x1. There is also the option of whether the barrel is delivered with or without sights. The Blaser R8 barrels are cold forged and are characterized by high precision and durability. The barrels are also plasma nitrided, meaning that 0.1 mm of the surface is hardened using a special process. This creates a hard outer shell while leaving a soft steel core inside. This results in each barrel vibrating optimally and shooting very precisely. To protect against corrosion, the Blaser exchange barrels are additionally blued. The barrel steel used by Blaser is also a strong example of the company's innovative strength.
