Repeater rifle Mosin Nagant Mod.44 in caliber 7.62x54R, year of manufacture 1947, Soviet Union, WWII. The Mosin Nagant was introduced in 1891 as the new standard armament of the Tsar's army and was later continued by the Red Army of the Soviet Union. The need for a new rifle became evident after the war between Russia and the Ottoman Empire, as the Russian troops, then still equipped with single-shot Berdan rifles, suffered heavy losses against the Ottoman troops equipped with repeating rifles. In the tender, the Russian Ministry of Defense was heavily influenced by the equipment and procurement standards of the Imperial German Army. The Mosin Nagant rifle prevailed against a number of other designs and proved itself as the new standard rifle of Russia in many conflicts, including World War I and II. Moreover, it could be found in almost every arsenal of a state in the former Eastern Bloc.

From a technical perspective, the Mosin Nagant rifle, like the Lee Enfield, represents one of the few commercially successful counter-designs to the Mauser system. During its numerous deployments, the almost legendary indestructibility of the construction was demonstrated, which does not disappoint the user even under the most adverse conditions. The use of the somewhat anachronistic rim cartridge poses no problem for the rifle and is part of the appeal for fans and friends of the Nagant rifle when it comes to sport shooting. The condition of the weapon is good. Valid German proof is available.
