The Mercury Sport ST-223 is characterized by the design of the new chassis and barrel, as well as by the combination of certain features that make it suitable for numerous applications in precision shooting. System and barrel - tailored to the caliber .223 Remington The system of the ST-223 is designed for the caliber .223 Remington and offers a maximum level of reliability. The bolt, with its three locking lugs, is forged from a single block of high-strength special steel, subsequently heat-treated, chrome-plated, and fitted to ensure a silky smooth operation. The robust extractor made of 17-4PH steel provides a maximum level of resistance and safety when using high and ultra-high pressure loads. The STR-223 rifle features a 24" long, cold-hammered and fluted premium barrel with a conventional groove and land profile. It has a muzzle diameter of 22 mm and is equipped with a 1/2"-28 UNEF thread for the installation of accessories such as flash hiders, muzzle brakes, compensators, or suppressors. The match rifle is fed by an interchangeable polymer magazine with a capacity of 7 rounds. Compared to the chassis of the STR Sport and ST-18 models, the chassis of the ST-223 rifle is lighter. The integrated barricade stop in the chassis is clearly defined. It helps with the optimal positioning of the rifle on a rest. The rifle comes standard with an AR-15 handguard with M-LOK interfaces but is compatible with the two forends of the STR Sport model, namely the basic forend with M-LOK interfaces and ARCA-Swiss rail or the F-Class forend with Anschütz rail. The polymer buttstock of the ST-223 is foldable and skeletonized to further limit the overall weight. It is equipped with an adjustable cheek piece and a bag rider on the rear, lower surface. Since it is connected to the chassis via a threaded connection, it can be removed and replaced with a buffer tube of the AR-15/M4 type for the installation of AR-15-compatible accessory stocks. The rifle is equipped with a Picatinny rail for mounting scopes on the system housing and a match trigger group with three levers that is factory-installed.
