The Haenel CR308 appears as a self-loading rifle in caliber .308 Win. and represents the "larger and stronger brother" of the CR variant in .223 Rem.

The dimensions of the rifle have been adapted to the caliber; otherwise, it corresponds functionally and in handling to the Haenel CR gas-operated series. The versatile caliber .308 Winchester promises high performance reserves combined with a universal and widely used cartridge.

The barrel lengths of 16.65" and 20" remain identical to the CR223. In terms of weight, the CR308 is around 4.3 kg to 4.6 kg. The self-loading rifle is equipped with a pressure point trigger (match trigger) of 17–20N.
