With the release of the full-size model G22 Gen5 MOS, the latest generation of the Glock standard is now available in .40 S&W. The .40 S&W caliber fills the gap between .45 ACP and 9 mm Luger. It became widely known primarily due to its extensive use by the American FBI. Glock was the first manufacturer to make the advantages of this balanced caliber accessible to law enforcement agencies.

Compared to the Gen4, the Gen5 eliminates the finger grooves on the grip, allowing various hand sizes to avoid being forced into a predetermined positioning. The magazine well features a funnel to facilitate magazine changes. The slide stop lever, now also present on the right side, makes operation easier for left-handed users. The interchangeable backstraps of the Multiple Backstrap System (MBS) allow for adjustment to individual hand sizes. The slide, with additional front serrations, has been coated with the extremely durable nDLC finish. The drift-adjustable rear sight, with dimensions of 4.40 mm to 3.75 mm (front sight), provides a wider sight gap, which allows more light to reach the eye, especially for taller shooters with longer arms or in adverse lighting conditions. The newly developed Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) of the Gen5 offers increased precision thanks to its polygonal rifling.

Practical accessories can be attached to the under-barrel rail. Even in poor lighting conditions, the orange follower in the empty magazine is immediately visible. Additionally, the loaded chamber indicator contributes to safety.

The engineers at GLOCK have developed the MOS – Modular Optic System to simplify the mounting of common optical sights. Optical sighting devices improve accuracy at both long and short distances, allowing for faster target transitions and quicker target acquisition.
