Use and handling of firearms
Please pay attention to the following before using the firearm.
General safety instructions for handling handguns
- Read the instruction manual of your firearm before handling or using the firearm.
- Follow the safety rules and consider every firearm as loaded and ready to fire.
- Keep the firearm in a safe area. Use the safety and remove the magazine if necessary. Open the bolt and check the chamber. If necessary, remove the ammunition.
- Before loading or using the firearm, check the barrel for foreign objects such as squibs, dirt, branches, snow, or water droplets.
- Load your firearm only immediately before use.
- Always secure your firearm. Only immediately before firing should the firearm be made ready to fire.
- Only fire when there is no danger to the surroundings and the bullet trap is behind the target. Aim precisely at the target.
- The danger area of the bullet extends up to 5 km behind the target. Depending on the caliber, the danger area can be more than 5 km.
- Only when you have the target in sight should you place your finger on the trigger.
- Never point the firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
- Use only intact and undamaged ammunition from your specialist dealer or your own hand-loaded ammunition that complies with regulations, if you are a knowledgeable reloader.
- Firing damaged, unknown, or incorrectly reloaded ammunition can cause serious to fatal injuries to persons or damage your firearm.
- Load the firearm only with the appropriate ammunition and caliber for which the firearm is marked and intended.
- Ensure that no ricochets occur in the target area. These can occur from hard, smooth surfaces or the water surface.
- The ejection area of the firearm should always be kept clear, as bystanders can be injured by hot casings.
- Unload the firearm before each ascent and descent from the high seat or when getting into and out of the car. Also, when overcoming obstacles such as fences, hedges, streams, and ditches, you should unload the firearm.
- Secure your firearm if you must carry it loaded.
- If your firearm has a jam or malfunction, do not attempt to force it to work. Unload the firearm and take it to your gunsmith.
- The firearm must always be unloaded when you set it down, transport it locked, or store it in a safe. Always transport your firearm unloaded and in a locked container (case or box) and secure the container with a lock.
- Never leave your firearm unattended. Always protect your firearms from unauthorized access.
- If the security class of your safe does not allow it, always store your firearm separately from the ammunition. Ensure that it is out of reach of children and stored securely.
- Never use a firearm as a tool for prying or striking. This can lead to an unintended discharge and damage the firearm.
- Before cleaning, ensure that the firearm is unloaded and that no ammunition is present in the chamber, magazine, or bolt.
- Only maintenance or cleaning may take place with a completely unloaded firearm.
- Do not handle the firearm from the muzzle end.
- Only hand over your firearm in an unloaded condition and only to persons who can ensure safe and responsible handling of the firearm.
- When lending or selling your firearm to a person with a firearms license, always provide the instruction manual and any other related documents with the firearm.
- Always wear your personal protective equipment such as hearing protection and safety glasses while hunting or shooting sports!
- Refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages before and during hunting or shooting at the shooting range.
The above warnings must be strictly observed! Failure to comply may result in fatal injuries and property damage. Additionally, failure to comply may call your reliability into question and result in the revocation of your firearms license!
