Wolf Eyes Filter FD45

A red filter that fits your Wolf Eyes flashlights with 45mm heads. This red filter naturally tints the light red, so it doesn't disturb animals as much or interfere with your night vision. This filter has the ability to swing out of the beam and allow white light, or provide filtered light. With a small easily screwable screw, your filter attaches to the lamp. The glass is at 600nm wavelength. This red filter works with both our incandescent bulbs and LED flashlights, although we have actually only responded with filters for incandescent bulbs. If you have a real need for red (or other colors), we recommend something like our X-Beam RED, as it has a special red LED to provide optimum throw. The reason red filters are less effective on any LED is that LEDs emit narrow spectrum light (e.g., blue/white), while incandescent bulbs emit full spectrum light, meaning they have all the colors of the rainbow (especially red and yellow, which is why they look a bit yellow). When you place a red filter over an incandescent bulb, it holds back the other spectrums but lets the red spectrum through. When the same filter is placed over an LED, very little red gets through, so the amount of light and throw is a fraction of what the LED provides without the filter. This red filter is fine if you want to provide red light for walking or similar purposes to avoid damaging your night vision.
