The catch – also referred to as the bolt catch or closure catch in a technical context – is a functional component in the lower housing part of the B&T APC223 and APC300. It automatically holds the bolt open in the rear end position after the last shot, thus enabling immediate readiness to reload after magazine changes. Function: The catch mechanically engages with the bolt as soon as the magazine is empty and the follower activates the catch lever. This locks the bolt to the rear. After inserting a new magazine, the bolt can be released again by manually operating the catch (or by pulling back and releasing the bolt). Compatibility: Suitable for the models APC223 (.223 Remington / 5.56×45 mm) and APC300 (.300 AAC Blackout). Both models use the same catch mechanism. Assembly: The catch is part of the lower receiver, located on the left side above the magazine well, and is connected to the bolt via a pressure point (usually supported by a spring). Material: Made of hardened steel or a high-strength aluminum alloy (depending on the model). Surface-coated against corrosion and wear. Replacement: Should be checked and possibly replaced in case of deformation, stiff operation, or malfunctions (e.g., bolt does not stay open). The replacement can be performed with standard workshop tools.
