Merkel K5 hunting rifle, caliber .223 Rem.

The new Merkel K5 break-action rifle: slimmer, more agile, and according to Merkel, a tad more beautiful than its predecessors K3 and K4. Hunting version with hand-engraved animal motifs. The Merkel K5 is trimmed for dynamic elegance while being 100 percent functional. The newly defined line of the rifle stretches from the stock with its lightweight pig back over the extended fore-end made of fine rosewood to the 17 mm thick barrel like a big cat in mid-leap. Ingenious technology in a new look and feel: the tipping block is extremely short and locks steel on steel in typical Merkel fashion. Technical finesse, a new line of stock, system, and barrel, as well as refined functionality: in total, a rifle with only 2.3 kilograms net weight and in all conceivable dimensions. The removable tipping block lock is the heart of the K5: it locks steel on steel, is extremely lightweight, short, and safe. The titanium-nitrided locking block is removable, making the weapon quickly and easily non-firing. The locking system with a removable hunter tipping block lock features a separate manual safety. The new manual safety operates completely silently and is even easier to use - almost no force is needed in the finger anymore. The revised trigger system is length and side adjustable. With a trigger weight of only 600 g and a wider trigger blade, the Merkel K5 can be easily operated with any finger and hand shape. The pistol grip, fore-end, and patent catch are elegantly finished with ebony. The stock of wood class 4 features removable sling mounts and a Bavarian cheek piece with double fold. The barrels with a diameter of 17 mm are equipped with the universal sighting i-Sight system with covered M15x1 muzzle thread. With a single inner hex screw, the rear sight and front sight can be disassembled, and the front sight can also be repositioned depending on whether shooting with a silencer, without sights, or with a muzzle brake is intended. The sling mounts are equipped with the new Merkel Speedster system and are therefore also removable.
