Melior 1907

The Melior 1907 is a compact, semi-automatic pistol developed in Belgium by the company Robar & de Kerkhove. It was designed for the then-new caliber of 6.35mm Browning and was intended as a self-defense weapon for civilians. The Melior 1907 was heavily based on the design of the FN 1906 but had some distinctive differences. A notable feature was its disassembly system: while the FN 1906 required pulling the slide back and then tilting it upwards for disassembly, the Melior used a different method that made disassembly easier. Melior pistols were quite common in Belgium and beyond, but they were never as popular as their FN counterparts. Later models of the Melior brand were further developed and modernized but mostly remained in the realm of small-caliber firearms. The Melior is matching-numbered and has a Belgian proof mark.
