The Walther Modell 4 is a German, semi-automatic pistol produced by Carl Walther in Zella St. Blasii during the early 20th century. It was designed for the 7.65 mm Browning caliber. The Walther Modell 4 was manufactured between 1910 and 1928 and was a development of the smaller Walther Modell 2 and Modell 3. Compared to many other pistols of that time, the Walther 4 was robust, reliable, and relatively easy to disassemble. The design shows some similarities to the FN 1910 but with its own features, especially in the bolt system and the shape of the grip. The Walther 4 is one of the early pistols that laid the foundation for Walther's later successes – especially for the famous Walther PP and Walther PPK. It features a German nitro proof.
