The Quest L35R from Nocpix is a thermal imaging device with the comfort of binoculars and an integrated laser rangefinder.Observing wildlife with binoculars is generally more relaxing for the eyes than with a monocular. Therefore, Nocpix offers its thermal imaging devices in the Quest series in the format of a classic binocular. The viewing comfort hardly affects the weight: The Quest L35R weighs only 700 g without additional batteries. And since knowing the exact position of the game is advantageous for a fair shot, a laser rangefinder has been integrated into the thermal-optical instrument. The L35R is the entry-level model in the Quest series with a 384x288-px sensor.The SensorThe Quest L35R thermal imaging device features a thermal imaging sensor developed by Nocpix with a resolution of 384x288 px, with a pixel pitch of 12 µm. A NETD value of ≤15 mK ensures high thermal differentiation capability. The frame rate is 60 Hz, which significantly improves the detection of moving objects. Compared to conventional 50 Hz detectors, the representation is smoother and more precise, with less noise and more detailed and contrast-rich images. The magnification range is 5-20x, and the detection range of the L35R with the 35 mm lens is 1,800 m, with a field of view of 13×10 m at 100 m.The DisplayThe 0.72‘‘ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,920x1,200 px features the helpful picture-in-picture (PiP) function. This shows you a zoomed image of the observation object in a frame in the upper display field if needed. An ultra-clear mode combined with the R+ image algorithm allows for quick detection and identification of animals in almost any weather and under almost all environmental conditions. Depending on individual needs and the observation situation, you can choose between warm and cool color tones and various color palettes to adjust the image. Brightness, contrast, and sharpness can be manually set in levels 1-10.The DeviceThe Quest L35R offers the comfort of a classic binocular. It impresses with its excellent haptics and fits perfectly in the hands with its rubber-coated housing. The symmetrical arrangement of the silent buttons on the top and the centrally located objective focusing wheel, along with the zoom ring above, make it intuitive to operate. Difficult environmental conditions are not an issue. The device is dust and waterproof according to IP67 and can be used in a temperature range of -20 °C to 50 °C. The F0.9 lens increases light intake by 20% compared to the usual F1.0 lenses.The Laser RangefinderThe integrated laser rangefinder of safety class 1 can be used in single measurement and continuous measurement modes. The maximum measuring range is 1,000 m with an accuracy of ±1 m. This way, you always know how far the game is and can make the right decision for the optimal shot.The Power SupplyThe Quest L35R features a dual power supply:a built-in 4200mAh battery anda replaceable and rechargeable 18650 battery.These allow for a runtime of up to 6 hours, depending on usage – number of recordings, WiFi, LRF, etc. The device can be powered via USB-C cable from an external power source, e.g., a 5V power bank, especially for stationary use. At the same time, the built-in battery is charged, although the replaceable 18650 battery cannot be charged in the device. A charger for this is included in the delivery. When disconnected from the external power source, the device automatically switches to battery power without interruption.Camera and ConnectivityWith the integrated camera, you can document your observations and the process of tracking wildlife as photos and videos with sound. The internal memory has a capacity of 64 GB. Using the Nocpix app – available for iOS and Android – you can connect the thermal imaging device to your smartphone via the integrated WiFi module. This way, you will also receive the latest software updates. Images and videos are transmitted in real-time to the monitors of mobile devices.
