Nocpix Quest H50R with LRF

The thermal imaging device Nocpix Quest H50R impresses with a large sensor, a wide detection range, the comfort of binoculars, and an integrated laser rangefinder.Observing wildlife through binoculars with both eyes is less tiring over extended periods than using a monocular. For this reason, Nocpix has designed the thermal imaging devices of the Quest series as binoculars, unlike those of the Vista and Lumi series. The visual comfort of a classic binocular is hardly reflected in the weight: The Quest H50R weighs only 700 g without additional batteries. And since knowing the exact position of the game is advantageous for a fair shot, a laser rangefinder has been integrated into the thermal-optical instrument. The H50R, with a 640x512-px sensor, is the model in the Quest series for hunters who value a high magnification factor and a wider detection range.

The Sensor
The Quest H50R thermal imaging device features a large thermal sensor developed by Nocpix itself, with a resolution of 640x512 px and a pixel pitch of 12 µm. A NETD value of ≤15 mK ensures high thermal differentiation capability. The frame rate is 60 Hz, significantly improving the capture of moving objects. Compared to conventional 50 Hz detectors, the representation is smoother and more precise, with less noise and more detailed and contrast-rich images. The magnification range is 4-32x, and the detection range of the H50R with the 50 mm lens is an impressive 2,600 m, with a field of view of 15×12 m at 100 m.

The Display
The 0.72‘‘ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,920x1,200 px features the helpful picture-in-picture (PiP) function. This shows you a zoomed image of the observation object in a frame in the upper display field if needed. An ultra-clear mode combined with the R+ image algorithm allows for quick detection and identification of animals in almost any weather and under nearly all environmental conditions. Depending on individual needs and the observation situation, you can choose between warm and cool color tones and various color palettes to adjust the image. Brightness, contrast, and sharpness can be manually set in levels 1-10.

The Device
The Quest H50R offers the comfort of a classic binocular. It impresses with its excellent haptics and fits well in the hands with its rubber-coated housing. The symmetrical arrangement of the silent buttons on the top and the centrally located objective focus wheel, along with the zoom ring above, make it intuitive to operate. Difficult environmental conditions are hardly an issue. The device is dustproof and waterproof according to IP67 and can be used in a temperature range of -20 °C to 50 °C.

The Laser Rangefinder
The integrated laser rangefinder of safety class 1 can be used in single measurement and continuous measurement modes. The maximum measurement range is 1,000 m with an accuracy of ±1 m. This way, you always know how far the game is and can make the right decision for the optimal shot.

Power Supply
The Quest H50R features a dual power supply:
a built-in 4200mAh battery anda replaceable and rechargeable 18650 battery.
These allow for a runtime of up to 6 hours, depending on usage – number of recordings, WiFi, LRF, etc. The device can be powered via USB-C cable from an external power source, such as a 5V power bank, especially for stationary use. At the same time, the built-in battery is charged, although the replaceable 18650 battery cannot be charged in the device. A charger for this is included in the delivery. When disconnected from the external power source, the device automatically switches to battery power without interruption.

Camera and Connectivity
With the integrated camera, you can document your observations and the tracking of wildlife as photos and videos with sound. The internal memory has a capacity of 64 GB. Using the Nocpix app – available for iOS and Android – you can connect the thermal imaging device to your smartphone via the integrated WiFi module. This way, you will also always receive the latest software updates. Images and videos are transmitted in real-time to the monitors of mobile devices. Additionally, you can remotely control functions of your Quest H50R through this.
