Description

The Sauer 505 ErgoMax Black Outback bolt-action rifle with its ergonomic polymer stock meets all functional and aesthetic demands of a modern hunting rifle.
After ten years, the gunsmiths at J.P. Sauer & Sohn have finally launched the successor to their successful model, the Sauer 404. The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle features a solid steel housing, which, due to optimal milling, has a weight of only 732 g, an ergonomically shaped stock, and a cold-hammered barrel, making it a hunting rifle that is second to none.
DLC Coating
The surfaces of the barrel and housing in the Outback package are coated with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond-like Carbon," which means "diamond-like carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components become particularly resistant and very smooth.
The Stocks
When choosing the stock, you can choose between wood, carbon, and polymer. Your personal preferences and preferred hunting style are decisive here.

For sitting, Sauer offers two wooden models: the ErgoLux and – particularly suitable for female hunters – the Artemis / ErgoCompact stock. The wood is walnut and available in classes 2-10.
If you prefer the lightest option, then choose the carbon hole stock Synchro XTC in black. With this model, you can adjust the stock comb to your personal physical needs when aiming and shooting using the height-adjustable stock back. An important criterion for carbon is its damping property, which maximally absorbs recoil.
If the aspect of durability is important to you, for example during driven hunts, you can choose between two polymer stocks, the ErgoMax and the Synchro XT, the latter being a hole stock with a height-adjustable stock back. These two models are also available in black.

The System: Steel Housing and Lock
The system of the Sauer 505 consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece lock, also made of steel and crafted from a single piece. This results in low friction, leading to a smooth chambering and quiet cycling. The ball of the chamber handle in the Outback version is made of anodized aluminum.
The Manual Safety
The manual safety of the Sauer 505 rifle has undergone further development, both in terms of usability and safety. An extension of the cocking travel requires even less effort. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle immediately before the shot, and just as easily relax it afterward to unload.
Trigger
The Sauer 505 rifle features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring a crisp break and the exact trigger weight you desire. The four weight settings are 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the "Sauer universal key" when the fore-end is uncocked. With a trigger that is always dry and without play, the risk of a shot going awry due to glitches is virtually eliminated.
The Barrel
The cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 rifle allows for extremely precise results when shooting. The specifications of the barrel depend on the caliber size you have chosen. You can choose between a barrel with a smooth profile or a fluted barrel. The increased surface area of the fluted barrel dissipates heat more quickly, preventing disturbing mirage even during high shot sequences. Another advantage of fluting is weight reduction.
Magazine
The magazine is made of polymer, making it lighter. The magazines are designed for the chosen calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
