The Optics
The X-Universal 8x42 achieves its excellent imaging performance through high-quality ED lenses that effectively compensate for chromatic aberration and deliver sharp and detailed images without color fringes all the way to the edge of the field of view. The close focus range is only 1.5 m, and its enormous field of view is 142 m at 1,000 m.

The Housing
A robust magnesium housing securely encompasses the sensitive optics while being very lightweight, which is an important criterion for a hunting binocular that one carries with them in the field. Minox has always relied on a minimalist design, as seen in the X-Universal 8x42: two straight tubes connected by a narrow bridge with the focusing wheel. The instrument impresses with its ergonomically sensible proportions and feels pleasant in the hand. The binoculars are waterproof according to IPX7 class.
