Hikmicro Falcon FQ50L 2.0

HikMicro has launched the monocular thermal imaging handheld devices of its Falcon series in a 2.0 version, including one with a laser rangefinder: the Falcon FQ50L 2.0.For hunters, knowing the exact distance to the game for optimal shot placement can be extremely relevant. Therefore, HikMicro offers thermal imaging devices in a practical combination with a laser rangefinder, and these have now been updated like all devices in the Falcon series. The Falcon FQ50L 2.0 features a laser rangefinder integrated into the lens with a range of 1,000 m.

The improvements in the thermal range of the Falcon series are enormous. Even minimal temperature differences are detected and transformed into contrast-rich and detailed sharp images of the game. The large f/0.9 aperture of the 50 mm lens allows for good capture of temperature radiation. The f/0.9 aperture significantly increases light intake compared to the usual f/1.0 lenses. The detection range of the detector is 2,600 m, the response distance is 600 m, and the field of view is 15.4×12.2 m at 100 m. The powerful digital zoom allows for up to 8x magnification. This enables reliable identification of objects at any time, with no details hidden even at great distances.

The Sensor
The Q models of the Falcon series are characterized by their high-resolution 12-μm thermal sensors with 640x512 IR pixels. In the Falcon FQ50L 2.0, the NETD value has been improved to <15 mK. Minimal thermal differences are identified regardless of external conditions and transformed into contrast-rich and razor-sharp images. The frame rate is 50 Hz, allowing for the capture of moving objects without impairments. The innovative shutterless system (HSIS) also contributes to a smooth viewing experience. The detection range is 2,600 m, and the magnification factor is 2.7-21.6× (8× zoom).

The Display
The image processing algorithm Image Pro 2.0 developed by HikMicro generates perfectly optimized images from the thermal data, which are displayed on the OLED screen with a resolution of 1920x1080 px (0.49‘‘). The display features Warm and Cold color modes as well as 6 color palettes: Black Hot, White Hot, Red Hot, Fusion, Red Monochrome, and Green Monochrome. With the practical picture-in-picture function, you can see your game in an enlarged section without losing sight of the overall view.

The Device
The monocular thermal imaging handheld device Falcon FQ50L 2.0 not only has excellent thermo-optical properties but also a design that stands out for its exceptional user-friendliness. The ergonomic and compact cylindrical shape allows for one-handed operation with the smooth focus wheel and is suitable for both left- and right-handed users. Additionally, the device uses a soft and skin-friendly material. The design has been optimized based on user feedback regarding intuitive operation and user-friendliness. The button arrangement with different shapes allows for quick recognition and control of each function, even with gloves and in complete darkness. The robust magnesium housing with a magnetic lens cover prevents corrosion from sweat, rain, fog, or dew. The coating of the lens effectively prevents scratching.

The Laser Rangefinder
The laser rangefinder integrated into the lens, classified as safety class 1, can be used in single measurement and scan modes. It has a wavelength of 905 nm, and the maximum measurement range is 1,000 m. This way, you always know exactly how far your object is and can make the right decision for the shot.

Operation
The Falcon FQ50L 2.0 is powered by 2 replaceable and rechargeable 21700 batteries. The operating time is up to 6 hours of continuous use. An integrated tilt sensor puts the device into standby mode when not in use. Additionally, any standard power bank can be used as an external power source via a USB Type-C interface.

The App
To take full advantage of your Falcon FQ50L 2.0, it is recommended to install the HikMicro app on your smartphone. With it, you can update the firmware, browse your recordings in the device's local album and store them externally, access a preview function, remote control, as well as instructional videos, repair records, and warranty details.
