The optical system
This model owes its light transmission of 90% not least to its 42-mm objective. The Conquest HDX 8x42 thus delivers bright and true-to-nature images without color fringing and color casts – even in poor lighting conditions. This is also due to the Zeiss T* multi-coating of the lenses and the roof prism. Aspherical lenses and ED glass (Extra-Low-Dispersion) significantly reduce chromatic aberration. The Field-Flattener technology guarantees high edge sharpness with detailed results across the entire field of view. The Conquest HDX 8x42 has a large field of view of 128 m at 1,000 m.

Material and processing
The housing of the Conquest HDX 8x42 is made of magnesium and is 10% lighter than the corresponding model of the HD series. Its full rubber coating provides additional protection; it is waterproof, shockproof, and temperature-resistant. The water-repellent LouTec coating on the lenses ensures that moisture beads off like on a lotus leaf and dirt does not stick. To prevent internal fogging, the binoculars are filled with nitrogen. This makes it a reliable instrument in every hunting situation to approach the game.

Ergonomics
With prolonged use of binoculars while sitting or stalking, its ergonomics become an important criterion. The Conquest HDX 8x42 is tactilely pleasant and intuitively operable, even in cold weather with gloves. Its coating is grippy, and with the precise and smooth focusing wheel, one can go from the close range – 2.0 m – to infinity with just 1.3 turns. The diopter can be locked against accidental adjustment, and the eyecups are interchangeable. The Conquest HDX 8x42 features an interface for mounting it on a tripod.
