The "ED" in the name of this binocular series stands for "Extra-Low-Dispersion." This refers to a fluorine-rich glass melt from which lenses are made that effectively compensate for chromatic aberration. Chromatic aberration refers to color errors that occur due to the different refraction of the color components of light and are visible as color fringes along edges. With its ED lenses, the Terra binoculars deliver exceptionally high-contrast, detailed, color-accurate, and three-dimensional images.

The Terra ED 10x42 is waterproof and nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging. Its housing is reinforced with fiberglass, effectively protecting the sensitive optics. The large, grippy, well-damped focus wheel allows for quick focusing, and the ergonomic design lets the index finger rest naturally on the focus wheel. The Terra 10x42 ED has a field of view of 110 m at 1,000 m.
