With the Walther CP88, not only did a high-quality and faithful replica of the Walther P88 enter the Umarex range many decades ago, but it is also the first CO₂ pistol in the house that fired diabolo pellets from a rifled barrel, marking a milestone in the company's history. High-end precision, impressive performance, and uncompromising reliability have been pioneering since the first model, also for today's current generation of Made in Germany air guns, and have convinced both sport and recreational shooters, as well as collectors, then and now. An 8-shot rotary magazine sits in the locking system and is propelled by a 12g CO2 capsule with over 5 Joules from the rifled barrel. This guarantees the CP88 Competition a clean and more precise feeding of the diabolo pellets into the rifled barrel. The Competition barrel extracts the last precision reserves from the Walther CP88. It guides the diabolo 143 mm instead of 90 mm.
