Roman Gladius Type Mainz with Sheath from the 1st century AD.

This Roman sword is a classic gladius of the Mainz type from the early 1st century with a typical Mainz blade made of E45 spring steel (neither hardened nor heat-treated) with a flat, diamond-shaped cross-section and a long, pointed tip. The edges are not sharpened, and the full tang is screwed at the end of the grip (brass threaded nut). The grip is made of bone imitation, with the crossguard and pommel made of wood. The crossguard is equipped on the blade side with a brass plate. Includes a red wood/leather sheath with brass fittings (a mouth band, three horizontal bands, edge fittings, and a V-shaped tip band decorated with a palmette, ending with a tip knob). On the two upper bands, there are carrying rings made of cast brass.

Characteristic of this gladius type was the double-edged, slightly tapered blade with a long tip.
