The H&K USP operates using gas pressure. This is generated by a standard 12g CO2 capsule, which is directly inserted into the magazine. This provides a maximum energy of up to 2 Joules. In this version of the Heckler & Koch USP, a blowback system has been deliberately omitted. Thus, the full power of the CO2 capsule is available for propelling the BB. In this case, it uses 4.5mm steel BBs. The magazine of the CO2 weapon holds - in addition to the capsule - 22 BBs. The Heckler & Koch USP features a double action trigger. This means the weapon is fired in a de-cocked state and the trigger weight remains the same for each shot. As is common with service weapons, the sights of the CO2 USP are fixed and not adjustable.
