The Sauer 505 ErgoLux Elegance repeating rifle with its noble-luxurious wooden stock combines ballistic precision with timeless elegance Since 1751, the company J.P. Sauer & Sohn has been producing one generation of rifles after another in the highest quality. Beyond the precision of the rifles, a constant feature is the wooden stocks, which remain very popular even with the advent of new materials. Accordingly, there is also a successor model to the Sauer 404 rifle in versions with various wooden stocks. Combined with a solid steel housing and a cold-hammered barrel, the Sauer 505 ErgoLux becomes a hunting rifle that impresses all around. In the Elegance configuration, the focus is on the beauty of the hunting rifle. Sauer refers to its 505 model as “the most beautiful repeating rifle in the world” – with this equipment, this could be true.DLC CoatingIn this version of the Sauer 505, the surfaces of the barrel and housing are refined with a DLC coating. DLC stands for “Diamond like Carbon.” This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components become particularly resistant and very smooth.Sun CutThe bolt of your Sauer 505 repeating rifle in the Elegance version is refined with a sun cut. In this process, the surface is worked with a grinding wheel in such a way that a sunbeam-like iridescence radiates from the center. When you move the treated surface, the angle of incidence of the light changes, and the ground area seems to rotate in a circle. The ball of the chamber handle is knurled and adorned with the Sauer screw. The StockMany hunters swear by the natural material wood for tactile reasons. The ErgoLux stock made of walnut is offered in wood classes 2 to 5. Its sophisticated shape significantly compensates for perceived recoil and gives the rifle great stability, regardless of the shooting position you adopt. The cheek piece has been further optimized compared to previous versions, making your contact with the rifle even more organic. In combination with the ergonomic pistol grip, you will feel one with your Sauer 505 ErgoLux when you shoot. The System: Steel Housing and BoltThe heart of the Sauer 505 repeating rifle, its system, consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece steel bolt. Steel has significantly lower friction losses compared to aluminum. Therefore, with the system of the Sauer 505, you experience an incredibly smooth chambering and a quiet cycling. This elegant functionality will become apparent to you with every shot. The Manual SafetyThe Sauer 404 rifle excelled with its highly comfortable and highly safe manual safety. In developing the successor model Sauer 505, the manual safety has been further improved, both in terms of usability and safety. By extending the cocking path, you need to exert even less force. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle immediately before the shot, and it is just as easy to relax it for unloading. TriggerThe proven Quattro trigger with its four possible weight settings has also been used in the Sauer 505 repeating rifle. With the right setting for you, you can be sure that the trigger breaks crystal clear and that you have the precisely suitable trigger weight. In the Sauer 505 rifle, the lowest setting has been further reduced from 500 g to 350 g. The other resistances are, as with the Sauer 404 rifle, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key when the fore-end is uncocked. Thanks to this option, you can be sure that the trigger is always dry and free of play, and the risk of a shot being pulled due to a malfunction is minimal. The trigger guard is made of aluminum in the Elegance version. The BarrelThe barrel of the Sauer 505 is cold-hammered and ensures an extremely precise shot. The muzzle diameter is standardly 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a sound suppressor. The Sauer 505 repeating rifle is delivered with a barrel with a smooth profile and without sights. The barrel length varies between 42 cm and 62 cm depending on the caliber. The corrosion protection of the barrels and all other steel surfaces of the Sauer 505 is a DLC coating. The barrel is also compatible with the Sauer 404, allowing you to use it on both models. MagazineUnlike the Sauer 404 model, which had a metal magazine, the magazine of the Sauer 505 is made of polymer, making it lighter. In the Elegance version, the magazine base is made of aluminum. The magazines are each designed for the selected calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
