The namesake of this version of the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting. There is a reason for this, as the Sauer 505 Artemis Outback rifle is specifically configured for female hunters. Homer referred to Artemis as the "one who roams the fields" and "Mistress of the accurate arrows." If Homer were to compose his epics today, it would likely have become "the roaming Mistress of the accurate hunting rifle" in reference to the new model from J.P. Sauer & Sohn. The new Sauer 505 rifle from the Allgäu gunsmiths is characterized by its solid steel housing, which, despite the robust material, contributes only 732 g to the overall weight of the rifle. From the ErgoCompact wooden stock to the precise steel housing and the cold-hammered barrel, female hunters will be thrilled with this rifle. The Outback configuration aims to equip an all-round rifle. The Australian wilderness gave this package its name, and the equipment of this version of the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is designed to withstand its harsh conditions.
DLC CoatingIn this version of the Sauer 505, the surfaces of the barrel and housing are refined with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond-like Carbon," meaning "diamond-like carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components become particularly resistant and very smooth.
The StockThe special features of the ErgoCompact wooden stock are its compact dimensions, the steeply rising drop, a slim pistol grip, and the reduced distance from the shooting hand to the trigger. TriggerThe Sauer 505 features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring that the trigger breaks cleanly and you have the individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the "Sauer Universal Key" (SUS) when the fore-end is pulled back, which can be optionally placed in the fore-end; the Sauer Mini Universal Key is included as standard. A precisely adjusted trigger prevents jerking during the shot and missing the target.
The BarrelThe cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 allows for extremely precise results. The muzzle diameter is standardly 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a sound suppressor. The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is delivered with a barrel featuring a smooth profile. The length of the barrel varies between 42 cm and 62 cm, depending on your caliber choice.
MagazineThe magazine of the Sauer 505 rifle is made of polymer, which slightly reduces the weight. The magazines are designed for the chosen calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
