After ten years, the gunsmiths at J.P. Sauer & Sohn have finally launched the successor to their successful model, the Sauer 404. The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle features a solid steel housing, which, thanks to optimal milling, has a weight of only 732 g, an ergonomically shaped stock, and a cold-hammered barrel, making it a hunting rifle that is second to none. In the Highland configuration, the DLC coating, the fluted barrel, and the combination of style and functionality are particularly impressive.
DLC Coating
In the Highland package, the surfaces of the barrel and housing are refined with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond Like Carbon," which means "diamond-like carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. The coated components are particularly resistant and very smooth due to a thin-film coating process.

The Stock
Its name already suggests it: The elegantly black ErgoMax Black stock of this rifle version of the Sauer 505 promises you maximum ergonomics. At the same time, it is elegantly designed. The stock length is 36.5 mm. Polymer is a very durable plastic, and adverse environmental conditions are not an issue with your Sauer 505 ErgoMax Black. The material is lightweight. Combined with the ErgoMax Black stock, your Sauer 505 is a solid and robust all-round hunting rifle.

The System: Steel Housing and Bolt
The system of the Sauer 505 consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece bolt, also made of steel. This results in low friction, leading to a smooth chambering and quiet cycling. The ball of the chamber handle is subtly knurled.

The Manual Safety
The manual safety of the Sauer 505 rifle has been further developed in terms of both usability and safety. An extension of the cocking travel requires even less effort. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle just before the shot, and just as easily, you can release it afterward to unload.

Trigger
The Sauer 505 rifle features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring a crisp break and the exact trigger weight you desire. The four weight settings are 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the "Sauer Universal Key" when the fore-end is uncocked. With a trigger that is always dry and without creep, the risk of a shot going awry due to misfires is virtually eliminated.

The Barrel
The cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 rifle is fluted in the Highland package. This offers the advantage that the increased surface area of the barrel due to the fluting dissipates heat more quickly, preventing disturbing mirage even during high shot sequences. Another advantage of fluting is weight reduction. The length of the barrel corresponds to your choice of caliber. The barrel is equipped with an M15x1 muzzle thread and is delivered without sights.

Magazine
The magazine is made of polymer, making it lighter. The magazines are designed for the chosen calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
