After ten years, the gunsmiths at J.P. Sauer & Sohn have finally launched the successor to their successful model, the Sauer 404. The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle features a solid steel housing, which, due to optimal milling, has a weight of only 732 g, an ergonomically shaped stock, and a cold-hammered barrel, making it a hunting rifle that is second to none. The Outback configuration aims to equip an all-round rifle. The Australian wilderness gave this package its name, and the equipment of this version of the Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is designed to withstand harsh conditions.

DLC Coating
The surfaces of the barrel and housing in the Outback package are coated with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond like Carbon," which means "diamond-like carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated components are made particularly resistant and very smooth.

The Stock
Its name already suggests it: The elegantly black ErgoMax Black stock of this rifle version of the Sauer 505 promises you maximum ergonomics. At the same time, it is elegantly designed. The stock length is 36.5 mm. Polymer is a very durable plastic, and adverse environmental conditions are not an issue with your Sauer 505 ErgoMax Black. The material is lightweight. In combination with the ErgoMax Black stock, your Sauer 505 is a solid and robust all-round hunting rifle.

The System: Steel Housing and Bolt
The system of the Sauer 505 consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece bolt, also made of steel. This results in low friction, leading to a smooth chambering and quiet cycling. The bolt handle ball in the Outback version is made of anodized aluminum.

The Manual Safety
The manual safety of the Sauer 505 rifle has been further developed compared to the predecessor model, both in terms of usability and safety. By extending the cocking travel, even less effort is required. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle just before the shot, and it is just as easy to release it afterward to unload.

Trigger
The Sauer 505 rifle features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring a crisp break and the exact trigger weight you desire. The four weight settings are 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the "Sauer Universal Key" when the fore-end is uncocked. With a trigger that is always dry and free of creep, the risk of a shot going awry due to glitches is virtually eliminated.

The Barrel
The cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 rifle allows for extremely precise results when shooting. The length of the barrel is determined by the caliber you have chosen. The barrel has an M15x1 muzzle thread and is delivered without sights.

Magazine
The magazine is made of polymer, making it lighter. The magazines are designed for the chosen calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
