This Sauer 505 Artemis repeating rifle with its compact wooden stock and a sighting scope is tailored to the needs of left-handed shooters
The namesake of this version of the Sauer 505 repeating rifle is Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting. There is a reason for this, as the Sauer 505 Artemis rifle is specifically configured for female hunters. Homer referred to Artemis as the "forest-wandering" and "Mistress of the accurate arrows." If Homer were to compose his epics today, it would likely have become "the forest-wandering Mistress of the accurate hunting rifle" in reference to the new model from J.P. Sauer & Sohn. The new Sauer 505 rifle from the Allgäu gunsmiths is characterized by its solid steel housing, which contributes only 732 g to the total weight of the rifle despite the robust material. From the compact stock to the precise steel housing and the cold-hammered barrel, female hunters will be thrilled with this rifle.
The StockThe features of the ErgoCompact wooden stock – here in the left-handed version – are its compact dimensions, the steeply rising drop at the rear, a slim pistol grip, and the reduced distance from the shooting hand to the trigger. This special ergonomic design meets the needs of the female physique, regardless of the shooting position the hunter uses to aim with her Sauer 505 rifle. The body remains relaxed while aiming and shooting and does not have to tense up because the rifle is oversized. This significantly increases accuracy. The stock is made of walnut and is offered in wood classes 2-5.
The System: Steel Housing and Steel LockThe components of the Sauer 505 rifle system are made of solid steel, both the housing and the one-piece lock. Steel has a significant advantage over aluminum in that it generates much less friction. Therefore, with the Sauer 505 system, you have a super smooth chambering and quiet cycling.
The Hand CockingThe hand cocking is highly comfortable and safe at the same time. The Sauer 505 model has undergone further development compared to its predecessors, both in terms of usability and safety. A longer cocking path requires even less effort, which is also beneficial for female hunters. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle immediately before the shot, and just as easily relax it afterward to unload.
TriggerThe Sauer 505 features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings, ensuring that the trigger breaks crystal clear and you have the individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key, which can be placed in the fore-end when the trigger is pulled. A precisely adjusted trigger prevents jerking during the shot and missing the target.
The BarrelThe cold-hammered barrel of the Sauer 505 allows for extremely precise results. The muzzle diameter is 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a sound suppressor. The Sauer 505 repeating rifle comes with a barrel with a smooth profile. The barrel lengths range from 47 cm to 62 cm, depending on the caliber. The corrosion protection of the barrels and all other steel surfaces of the Sauer 505 is a plasma nitriding.
MagazineThe magazine of the Sauer 505 rifle is made of polymer, which slightly reduces the weight. The magazines are designed for the chosen calibers and hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock.
