In 1951, the self-loading pistol model Makarov, named after its designer, was introduced into the military of the former Soviet Union. Later, various countries of the then Warsaw Pact adopted this model as a service weapon for police and military.

Like the original, this CO2 model features a single and double action system as well as all function-relevant controls and a movable slide. The robust construction is particularly evident in that all important components such as the grip, slide, and external controls are made entirely of metal.
