The handle is made of solid wood and the wide tang is secured in the handle by two mekugi, providing very good stability. The sword sheath is adorned with a band made of rattan. The upper part and the rest of the sword sheath have been lacquered using the Ishime technique, which creates a droplet effect on the sheath. The Ishime design is excellent for practical swords, as it hardly shows fingerprints.
