It has a distinctive and authentic design. The compact signal pistol is manufactured in the popular caliber 9mm P.A.Knall. The magazine of the weapon holds 7 cartridges. For necessary safety, the RG88 blank-firing pistol has a cylinder safety with an integrated decocking function. This means that the hammer returns to the rest position when the gas pistol is secured and loaded. This function makes the RG88 a reliable and, above all, safe companion in terms of self-defense. Furthermore, the blank-firing pistol features a combined single/double action trigger. Our assessment When looking around the market, one notices that the Röhm RG 88 is always a bit overshadowed by the larger RG 96. We believe this is unjustified, as our small test report will show. This starts with the quality of workmanship. This is, typical for weapons with the Röhm inscription, very good. All edges have been neatly deburred, and the surface is absolutely even. The bluing has also been applied very evenly. When you take the RG88 in hand, several things stand out. Even with vigorous shaking, no rattling can be heard. Furthermore, the play of the slide is almost unmeasurable. And finally, the slide's barrel is buttery smooth and without any scratching. The next thing that stands out is the good hand position. The RG88 gas pistol sits securely in the hand, and the fish skin pattern on the grip panels provides additional grip. Weighing just under 600 grams, it is also lightweight and therefore hardly noticeable when carried concealed. When disassembling the RG 88, the PPK principle is used. With the trigger guard folded down, the slide can be lifted upwards to the rear. In the final shooting test, we also checked whether shooting might reveal any weaknesses. But that was, as suspected, not the case. After firing 50 shots, we could not detect any jams or misfires. A very good result. The Röhm RG 88 has fascinated us. It is an absolutely high-quality and reliable blank-firing pistol. Due to its compact dimensions, it can be ideally used for self-defense and still maintains sufficient firepower thanks to the 7 cartridges. Without a doubt, a recommendation.
