The RCBS X-dies make trimming rifle cases unnecessary. RCBS X-die sets consist of an X-series full-length sizing die and a standard seating die. The set offered here is intended for the caliber: .223 Remington. The full-length sizing die features a special guide rod, to which both the expander and the decapping pin for the primer are mounted. The guide rod is designed in such a way that it has a limiter. The guide rod limits the stretching of the case to an absolute minimum. The full-length sizing die does not shorten the cases but prevents lengthening when sizing the case neck. The cases must be brought to a uniform trim length before using the X full-length sizing die. According to RCBS, this trim length should be 0.020 inch shorter than the maximum length. This corresponds to a value of 0.5 millimeters in metric units. Due to the tight tolerances of the expander and the inner wall of the die, material cannot flow to the sides, thus preventing thickening. Cases that are repeatedly resized with the X full-length sizing die initially stretch by a few thousandths of an inch. However, this stabilizes below the maximum allowable trim length over time. Sizing the cases with the X sizing die does not result in any loss regarding the lifespan of the case material or precision. The included seating die features an interchangeable seating stem. This can be replaced with a seating stem adapted to a specific bullet shape. Both dies have a locking ring. Once the ideal setting is found, this setting can be fixed by tightening the set screw. This avoids lengthy readjustments of the dies before each use. The dies can be used in any single-stage press or progressive press that uses the standard 7/8 inch thread. A corresponding shell holder must be purchased separately. Tip: If you already own a die set for the desired caliber, you can also purchase just the X full-length sizing die individually here in the shop. Attention! Corresponding shell holders must be purchased separately. Never introduce cases into the sizing die without lubrication! This can lead to the case getting stuck.
