The .458 SOCOM is an impressive cartridge that is essentially a longer version of the .50 AE (overall length of 1.575 inches) with a set-back .308-style head and tapered to a .458-inch (11.63 mm) diameter. It has been used in some bolt-action rifles, but it owes its popularity to its use in the AR-15 platform. Dies are available from most major manufacturers. This case is intended for use in properly manufactured .458 SOCOM firearms, dies, and ammunition made in the USA and does not conform to the incorrect dimensions per CIP cartridge/chamber specifications. Warning: Some published data recommends Large Rifle primers, although this brass is designed for Large Pistol primers and most data is intended for this. If you wish to use the higher Large Rifle primers, we recommend deeper pocketing of the primer pocket (0.125 inches - 0.132 inches). Seating Large Rifle primers in a standard Large Pistol pocket can lead to protruding primers, which can cause misfires and general feeding issues.
