Pufferpatronen are practice cartridges - that is, cartridges without a primer and without a charge. They are special training cartridges used to catch the firing pin of a weapon. They are used for realistic dry training (e.g., dry trigger training), practicing reloading techniques, and quickly resolving weapon malfunctions or for gentle decocking, e.g., when the firing pin needs to be struck during revisions or cleaning (triggering the firing process). This preserves the material and increases the lifespan of the firing pin. Soft materials (e.g., rubber) or a spring mechanism are used instead of the primer. A special feature of conventional buffer cartridges arises when they are used in pistols with internal firing pins without a hammer. In these firearms, the slide must be pulled back to cock the pistol, which leads to the ejection of the practice cartridge. The new StrikerCaps solve this problem: The buffer cartridges are made without a rim and are equipped with a rubber ring that holds the cartridge firmly in the chamber when cocking.
