Gas-Checks are small tombak cups that are pressed onto the base of cast lead bullets. At the same time, calibration and bullet lubrication are performed. Gas-Checks are used when a V0 over 450 m/s is achieved. The gas pressures required for this speed generate such high temperatures that the lead would melt. The Gas-Checks are pressed firmly into the bullet during calibration and anchored. This prevents the lead from melting.
