Description

The Sauer 505 ErgoLux repeating rifle with its noble-luxurious wooden stock combines ballistic precision with timeless elegance.
Since 1751, the company J.P. Sauer & Sohn has been producing one generation of rifles after another in the highest quality. Beyond the precision of the rifles, a constant has been the wooden stocks, which remain very popular even with the advent of new materials. Accordingly, there is also the successor model to the Sauer 404 rifle available in versions with various wooden stocks. These, combined with a solid steel housing and a cold-hammered barrel, make the Sauer 505 ErgoLux a hunting rifle that impresses all around.
The Stock
Many hunters swear by the natural material wood for tactile reasons. Sauer offers the ErgoLux stock made of walnut in wood classes 2 to 10. Its sophisticated shape significantly compensates for perceived recoil and gives the rifle great stability, regardless of the shooting position you adopt. The cheek piece has been further optimized compared to previous versions, making your contact with the rifle even more organic. In conjunction with the ergonomic pistol grip, you will feel one with your Sauer 505 ErgoLux when you take the shot. Optionally, you can choose between stock pads ranging from 5 to 35 mm. The stock length is 36.5 cm plus the dimensions of the stock pad.
The System: Steel Housing and Lock
The heart of the Sauer 505 repeating rifle, its system, consists of a solid steel housing and a one-piece steel lock. Steel shows significantly lower friction losses compared to aluminum. Therefore, with the system of the Sauer 505, you will experience an incredibly smooth chambering and a quiet cycling.
The Manual Cocking
The Sauer 404 rifle excelled with its comfortable and safe manual cocking. In developing the successor model Sauer 505, the manual cocking has been further improved, both in terms of usability and safety. By extending the cocking path, you need to exert even less force. With a light thumb pressure, you can cock your rifle just before the shot, and it is just as easy to relax it for unloading.
Trigger
The proven Quattro trigger with its four possible weight settings has also been used in the Sauer 505 repeating rifle. With the right setting for you, you can be sure that the trigger breaks crystal clear. In the Sauer 505, the lowest setting has been further reduced from 500 g to 350 g (why again?). The other resistances are the same as in the Sauer 404 rifle: 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g. The adjustment is made with the front stock pulled back using the "Sauer Universal Key" (SUS), which can be optionally placed in the front stock. The "Sauer Mini Universal Key" (MUS) is included as standard.
The Barrel
The barrel of the Sauer 505 is cold-hammered and ensures an extremely precise shot. The muzzle diameter is standardly 17 mm, and the muzzle is equipped with an M15x1 thread for a suppressor. The Sauer 505 repeating rifle is delivered with a smooth profile barrel; upon request, you can also receive it with a fluted barrel. The increased surface area of the barrel due to the fluting dissipates heat more quickly, preventing disturbing mirage even during high shot sequences. Another advantage is a reduction in weight. The standard lengths of the barrels are 51 cm and 62 cm, and 56 cm barrels for the caliber groups Mini, Medium, and Magnum can be ordered optionally. The corrosion protection of the barrels and all other steel surfaces of the Sauer 505 is a plasma nitriding. For an additional charge, you can receive a DLC surface (Diamond Like Carbon). In the version shown here with the Sauer 505 ErgoLux wooden stock and a 51 cm barrel, the Sauer 505 repeating rifle is 101.5 cm long and weighs approximately 3.4 kg. Stocks and barrels are compatible with the Sauer 404, allowing you to use them on both models.
Magazine
Unlike the Sauer 404 model, which had a metal magazine, the magazine of the Sauer 505 is made of polymer, making it lighter. The magazines hold between 2 to 5 cartridges, depending on the version. An unintentional release of the magazine button is prevented by the integrated magazine safety MagLock. The Sauer 505 is compatible with all scopes that can be installed on the rifle using a Blaser saddle mount.
