To expand the standard magazine of the rifle to 10 rounds, the complete trigger system, including the trigger blade and guard, has been integrated into a newly developed system extension, separate from the magazine.

The Blaser straight-pull repeater system allows for lightning-fast shot sequences while maintaining a relaxed body position without lowering the weapon. The shooter's eye and the barrel of the weapon remain focused on the target. The time gained in target acquisition leads to a more secure shot release.

The manual cocking safety system is considered one of the best safety systems. No other mechanical safety can provide the security of a relaxed firing pin spring. The R8 is consciously cocked just before the shot: the cocking slider is pushed forward. If the shot does not occur, a light pressure on the cocking slider is sufficient to let it slide back and relax the system. At the same time, the weapon cannot be unintentionally opened, as the chamber handle is blocked when the bolt is relaxed and locked. If the magazine, including the trigger unit, is not in the weapon, the R8 cannot be cocked, as the cocking slider does not engage. Thus, the weapon is secure against unauthorized use.

The magazine change is quick and easy: A short press on the two release buttons ideally positioned above the trigger, and the magazine jumps directly into the hand due to spring force. However, the magazine buttons can also be locked by a slider located in the magazine, preventing the magazine from being unintentionally removed.

The excellent trigger characteristics of the Blaser direct trigger with only 700 g trigger weight provide the perfect prerequisite for a precise shot.

The stock is, as with all other R8 models, divided into a rear and front stock and visually adapts perfectly to the black anodized Blaser R8 system housing. The stock is exclusively made for right-handed shooters with black elastomer inserts on the pistol grip, fore-end, and cheek piece. The hole stock ensures a completely relaxed position of the shooting hand and arm in all shooting positions – prone, offhand, or supported. The shooter's accuracy is immediately increased, and shooting errors such as the annoying "flinching" are almost completely eliminated. Additionally, the pre-installed height adjustment of the stock significantly improves the sighting behavior in the scope. The contact with the stock allows for a consistently precise, clean position, which is a prerequisite for a secure hit.

The Blaser R8 Ultimate X equipment options allow the shooter to customize the weapon even better to their individual needs and preferences. With the optional adjustable butt plate, the shooter can individually adjust the length of the stock to their body measurements. Furthermore, the repeating rifle can be equipped with a damping system according to preference. The recoil damping system can be adjusted in terms of damping level. Additionally, Blaser offers various customization options.

The Blaser R8 Ultimate X is manufactured in the semi-weight barrel contour with a barrel profile of 19 mm at the muzzle. The caliber selection for the R8 exchange barrels is enormous. The Blaser R8 systems and stocks can be individually combined with different barrel types in various calibers. Only when changing the caliber group is it necessary to additionally replace the locking chamber on the bolt. The extremely strong, uniformly supporting radial locking mechanism locks directly in the barrel – without any rotational movement. The Blaser R8 barrels in the standard barrel profile are available in different barrel lengths: 47 cm, 52 cm, and 58 cm. Additionally, the barrels are manufactured with a barrel thread of M 17x1. There is also the option of whether the barrel is delivered with or without sights. The Blaser R8 barrels and chambers are cold forged and are thus perfectly concentric. The barrel surface is plasma nitrided and blued. The Blaser barrels are characterized by high precision and durability.
