Optimal Ergonomics
The foldable, play-free buttstock is ideally adjustable to the ergonomic requirements of the shooter. These advantages are complemented by a fold-out spur at the bottom to stabilize the rifle. Furthermore, the butt pad is ergonomically adjustable in height and length for the shooter. The AR-15-like grip and ergonomics are fundamentally familiar to military users and can be adapted in size and shape for different hands using interchangeable plates provided for the front and back. The trigger pull length is adjustable and is in the medium range at 76 mm.

Ample Space for Accessories
The octagonal, completely free-floating forend allows for the movement of cooling airflow. Additionally, there are 104 keyslot accessory points and a 30 MOA inclined Picatinny rail that is aligned with the action for scope/accessory mounting. The system box and handguard top are equipped with a long MIL-STD-1913 mounting rail with a 30-degree forward inclination for the attachment of optics.

Details Make the Difference
The magazine well accommodates a double-column 10-round aluminum unit with a polymer follower that can be loaded into or out of the rifle from above. Individual cartridges are drawn directly into the chamber when placed in the ejection port for a safety shot. Holes in the magazine walls allow visibility of the remaining ammunition content. The magazine release lever is located at the front of the trigger guard and allows the magazine to drop cleanly into the waiting palm, whether loaded or empty. The trigger guard provides ample space for gloved fingers, and the trigger can be operated in 2 stages. It is adjustable in position and trigger weight.

Developed for Harsh Conditions
A foldable dust cover is clamped over the ejection port to prevent foreign objects from entering the system and automatically springs open when the bolt is operated. Additionally, there is a case deflector at the rear of the ejection port. The Steyr bolt has four lugs in two opposing pairs. They are slim, allowing for a lift of about 60º at the grip. The cylinder bolt with a single extractor claw and a cartridge ejector proves to be 100% reliable even under difficult operating conditions. Steyr is one of the few manufacturers that offer sniper rifles with cold-forged barrels. Cold forging is a process where the barrel is forged over a mandrel into which the grooves and lands are impressed. This way, the barrel is formed with incredible precision and higher hardness than with conventional rifling. SSG barrels are known for their excellent precision, easy cleaning, and long service life due to this ultra-fine internal barrel surface.
