The stock of the Blaser R8 Success repeating rifle is ergonomically optimized. Additionally, the heavy semi-weight barrels enhance swing behavior and inherent precision.
The grained walnut stock from wood classes 4 or 7 particularly appeals to lovers of fine stock woods who value functionality. The latest technology combines with classic elegance to create an extraordinary hunting weapon. The stock is divided into a rear and front stock, allowing the matte black system housing with the golden R8 inscription to stand out elegantly. The noble impression is rounded off by a front stock end made of ebony. The rear stock is equipped with a rubber butt pad and adorned with a stainless steel band. The hole stock ensures a completely relaxed position of the shooting hand and arm in all shooting positions – prone, offhand, or supported. The shooter's accuracy is immediately increased, and shooting errors such as the annoying "flinching" are nearly completely prevented. The elegant walnut stock gives the modern Blaser R8 hunting repeater a particularly elegant and traditional touch.
The Blaser straight-pull repeating system allows for lightning-fast shot sequences while maintaining a relaxed body position, without having to put down the weapon. This keeps the shooter's eye and the barrel of the weapon continuously focused on the target. The time gained in target acquisition leads to a more secure shot release. The hand tension safety system is considered one of the best safety systems. No other mechanical safety can provide the security of a relaxed firing pin spring. The R8 is intentionally tensioned only immediately before the shot by pushing the tension slider forward. To relax the system, a light pressure on the tension slider is sufficient, and it glides back. At the same time, the weapon cannot be unintentionally opened, as the chamber handle is blocked when the bolt is relaxed and locked. If the magazine including the trigger unit is not in the weapon, the R8 cannot be tensioned and is thus safe from unauthorized use.
The magazine change is quick and easy with a short press on the two release buttons, which are ideally positioned above the trigger. The magazine buttons can be locked, preventing unintentional removal of the magazine reliably.
The excellent trigger characteristics of the Blaser direct trigger with only 700 g trigger weight are the perfect prerequisite for a precise shot. Optionally, the Blaser Atzl trigger system is offered: the trigger weight can be adjusted to either 200 g or 600 g. Retrofitting is possible at the factory.
The modular Blaser principle: Every Blaser R8 repeating rifle is freely configurable. There are countless equipment variants that can be individually combined. The Blaser R8 barrels and chambers are cold forged, making them perfectly concentric. They are characterized by high precision and durability. The barrels have a DLC A+ coating (Diamond Like Carbon). This type of coating, which uses a carbon that has the hardness of a diamond, is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the surfaces of the barrels achieve a high degree of hardness and become particularly resistant to mechanical damage and corrosion, as well as very smooth. This reduces maintenance effort and gives the barrel its noble, satin matte, deep black appearance. The ball barrels are manufactured in the standard barrel contour with a barrel profile of 19 mm at the muzzle in barrel lengths: 42 cm, 47 cm, 52 cm, 58 cm, 65 cm, both with and without sights. Optionally, the barrels are delivered with a barrel thread M 15x1.
The selection of calibers is enormous, allowing one to hunt any game species on any continent with a Blaser R8. Blaser distinguishes between different caliber groups: .22 LR, Mini, Standard, Medium, and Magnum. The reason is the modular Blaser principle. The Blaser R8 systems and stocks can be individually combined with different barrel types in various calibers. Only when changing the caliber group is it necessary to additionally replace the locking chamber on the bolt. The large-area barrel bedding in the solid system housing ensures that the weapon shoots accurately again after a caliber change. Another advantage: the R8 can be disassembled and reassembled in seconds without changing the point of impact. Most R8 models are also available as complete left-hand versions with left-hand stock and left-hand system.
