The Blaser R8 Success Silence combines ergonomic design with innovative silencer technology in a hunting rifle.
Because the construction of the R8 Silence is holistically aligned with the protection of the hearing of both the hunter and hunting dog. The simple system housing in matte black finish with the gold-colored R8 lettering and the noble walnut stock with Bavarian cheek piece and double fold in wood class 7 emphasize the traditional look. The highlight: The stock and system are prepared for the attachment of a Blaser integral silencer, which significantly reduces the shot noise with a damping performance of 28 dB. Thanks to the evenly distributed mass along the entire barrel, the R8 Silence offers the familiar, first-class balance and handling that characterizes every R8 model. The external contour of the barrel and silencer jacket is designed in a stepless "Bull-Barrel" design, giving the R8 Silence both low weight and an exceptionally attractive overall appearance.
The Success hole stock ensures a completely relaxed position of the shooting hand and arm in all shooting positions – prone, offhand, or supported. The shooter's accuracy is immediately increased, and shooting errors such as the annoying "flinching" are almost completely eliminated. The stock ends with a non-slip butt pad, which also allows the weapon to be placed quietly – without making noise while on the stand. The weapon can be customized with various equipment options. For example, a chamber grip ball made of walnut or a pistol grip cap with a monogram can be retrofitted at any time.
The Blaser straight-pull repeating system enables lightning-fast shot sequences while maintaining a relaxed body position, without having to put the weapon down. This keeps the shooter's eye and the barrel of the weapon continuously focused on the target. The time gained in target acquisition leads to a more secure shot release. The manual safety system is considered one of the best safety systems. No other mechanical safety can offer the security of a relaxed firing pin spring. The R8 is deliberately cocked just before the shot by pushing the cocking slider forward. To relax the system, a light pressure on the cocking slider is sufficient, and it glides back. At the same time, the weapon cannot be unintentionally opened, as the chamber grip is blocked when the bolt is relaxed and locked. If the magazine including the trigger unit is not in the weapon, the R8 cannot be cocked and is thus safe from unauthorized use.
The magazine change is quick and easy with a short press on the two release buttons, which are ideally located above the trigger. The magazine buttons can be locked, preventing accidental removal of the magazine reliably.
The excellent trigger characteristics of the Blaser direct trigger with only 700 g trigger weight is the perfect prerequisite for a precise shot. Optionally, the Blaser Atzl trigger system is offered: The trigger weight can be adjusted to either 200 g or 600 g. Retrofitting is possible at the factory.
The modular Blaser principle: Every Blaser R8 repeating rifle is freely configurable. There are countless equipment variants that can be individually combined.
The Blaser R8 barrels and chambers are cold forged, making them perfectly concentric. They are characterized by high precision and durability. The barrel surface has a DLC A+ coating (Diamond Like Carbon). This type of coating, which uses a carbon that has the hardness of a diamond, is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the coated barrels are particularly resistant to mechanical damage and corrosion as well as very smooth. The Silence ball barrels are manufactured in the standard barrel contour with a barrel profile of 17 mm at the muzzle in barrel lengths of 42 cm, 47 cm, and 52 cm, without sights and with a barrel thread M 15x1.
The caliber selection for Blaser hunting rifles is fundamentally very large, but with the Blaser R8 Silence it is limited to the most important calibers. With a Blaser R8, you can hunt any game species on any continent. Blaser distinguishes between different caliber groups: .22 LR, Mini, Standard, Medium, and Magnum. The reason is the modular Blaser principle. The Blaser R8 Silence systems and stocks can be individually combined with various barrel types in different calibers. When changing caliber groups, it is necessary to additionally replace the locking chamber and possibly the integral silencer. The large-area barrel bedding in the solid system housing ensures that the weapon shoots accurately again after a caliber change. Another advantage: the R8 can be disassembled and reassembled in seconds without changing the point of impact.
