The Blaser R8 repeater is equipped in its basic version with a walnut stock of wood class 3.
The rear and front stock are connected by a light anodized receiver in steel look or optionally a black anodized system box. A gold-colored R8 inscription adorns the receiver, which is machined from a single piece. The deep black coloring of the system creates a convincing contrast to the stock wood of the weapon, emphasizing the elegant overall appearance of the firearm. The classic appearance of the hunting repeater is highlighted by the traditional wooden stock. The rear stock with Bavarian cheek piece and double fold has a straight stock back, while the black front stock end adds a contrasting accent. A rubber butt plate completes the stock, reducing recoil and providing a slip-resistant resting place for the rifle.
The Blaser straight-pull repeater system allows for lightning-fast shot sequences while maintaining a relaxed body posture, without having to set down the weapon. This keeps the shooter's eye and the barrel of the weapon continuously focused on the target. The time gained in target acquisition leads to a more secure shot release. The set trigger safety system is considered one of the best safety systems. No other mechanical safety can offer the security of a relaxed firing pin spring. The R8 is intentionally cocked just before the shot by pushing the cocking slider forward. To relax the system, a light pressure on the cocking slider is sufficient, and it glides back. At the same time, the weapon cannot be unintentionally opened, as the chamber handle is blocked when the bolt is relaxed and locked. If the magazine including the trigger unit is not in the weapon, the R8 cannot be cocked and is thus safe from unauthorized use.
The magazine change is quick and easy with a short press on the two release buttons, which are ideally located above the trigger. The magazine buttons can be locked, preventing unintentional removal of the magazine reliably.
The excellent trigger characteristics of the Blaser direct trigger with only 700 g trigger weight are the perfect prerequisite for a precise shot. Optionally, the Blaser Atzl trigger system is offered: the trigger weight can be adjusted to either 200 g or 600 g. Retrofitting is possible at the factory.
The modular Blaser principle: Every Blaser R8 repeater rifle is freely configurable. There are countless equipment variants that can be individually combined.
The Blaser R8 barrels and chambers are cold forged, making them perfectly concentric. They are characterized by high precision and durability. The barrels have a DLC A+ coating (Diamond Like Carbon). This type of coating, which uses carbon that has the hardness of a diamond, is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. Through a thin-film coating process, the surfaces of the barrels achieve a high degree of hardness and become particularly resistant to mechanical damage and corrosion, as well as very smooth. This reduces maintenance effort and gives the barrel its noble, satin-matte, deep black appearance. The ball barrels are manufactured in the standard barrel contour with a barrel profile of 17 mm at the muzzle in barrel lengths: 42 cm, 47 cm, 52 cm, 58 cm, 65 cm, both with and without sights. Optionally, the barrels are delivered with a barrel thread M 15x1.
The caliber selection is enormous, allowing you to hunt any game species on any continent with a Blaser R8. Blaser distinguishes between different caliber groups: .22 LR, Mini, Standard, Medium, and Magnum. The reason is the modular Blaser principle. The Blaser R8 systems and stocks can be individually combined with different barrel types in various calibers. Only when changing the caliber group is it necessary to additionally exchange the locking chamber on the bolt. The large-area barrel bedding in the solid system box ensures that the weapon shoots accurately again after a caliber change. Another advantage: the R8 can be disassembled and reassembled in seconds without changing the point of impact. Most R8 models are also available as complete left-hand versions with left-hand stock and left-hand system.
