The new Mauser 18 Field Hunting rifle is designed for precision and ergonomics. Optimized for long-distance shots, it is at home in open terrain.
Thanks to the fluted, 56 cm long solid barrel, the M18 Field Hunting model offers sharp precision. The ultra-stable polymer stock with the infinitely adjustable comb can be ideally adapted to the shooter's body measurements, allowing even the most demanding shots to be mastered effortlessly.
The System
The system of the M18 Field Hunting has been made of steel, as proven millions of times with the M98. A three-lug bolt locks the chamber. This has allowed the opening angle of the chamber to be reduced to 60 degrees. This guarantees the fastest cycling operations, and the scope can be mounted low over the barrel. A double-column 5+1 magazine for standard calibers provides sufficient firepower. If that is not enough, one can order a new 10+1 magazine, making it well-equipped for any driven hunt.
Trigger and Safety
The trigger weight of the direct trigger can be adjusted to personal preferences. The safety can be operated silently. It acts directly on the trigger sear and has three positions. This allows the bolt to be opened even when the safety is engaged. Thus, safe unloading and loading of the weapon, even in a cocked state, is ensured.
The Stock
The ultra-robust polymer stock with soft grip inlays is lightweight and easy to handle. The stock of the Field Hunting model is in an earthy color tone. To ensure even the most demanding shots succeed, an infinitely adjustable comb has been installed, which can be adapted to the shooter in no time. The inlays on the ergonomic pistol grip and forend are soft and particularly pleasant to grip. They provide very good hold even in wet conditions. A special feature is hidden behind the stock cap. Here, there is a storage compartment for, for example, a cleaning cord.
The Barrel
The fluted, 56 cm long solid barrel (standard caliber), 62 cm (magnum caliber), with a diameter of 19 mm at the muzzle, has been cold-hammered. Mauser guarantees a precision of under 1 MOA for this barrel. The fluting of the barrel ensures good cooling behavior during large series of shots at the range and saves weight. This keeps the M18 Field Hunting, quite literally, portable. It has a muzzle thread M 17x1, for example, for mounting a suppressor or a muzzle brake.
