The basic version of the Blaser R8 bolt-action rifle, here in the left-hand version, features a sleek design with a classic two-part walnut wood stock of class 3, which harmoniously encompasses the matte black action housing with gold-colored R8 logo. The dark ebony finish of the fore-end adds an elegant accent, while the rubber cap on the buttstock noticeably absorbs recoil. The grip surfaces are equipped with a fish scale texture, which feels pleasant in the hands.
The fore-end is designed to accommodate a semi-weight barrel. This barrel is about 300 g heavier than the Blaser standard barrels, which enhances the oscillation behavior and precision of the rifle.
The direct trigger is crisp as glass and releases with a resistance of 750 g without any creep. The system is secured by the relaxation of the firing pin spring, which is only tensioned directly before the shot using the slider. The straight-pull repeater is intuitive to handle and allows for quick follow-up shots.
