The model 686 Security Special is visually distinguished by its glass bead-blasted surface from the standard models of the series. This matte surface prevents reflections in unfavorable lighting conditions. The mounted wooden grip is made by Nill for Smith & Wesson.

With its 4" barrel and rounded Nill combat grip, the revolver is a compact model within the 686 series. The high-quality grip ensures a secure shot release, while the adjustable sight with ramp front sight allows for quick target acquisition.
