The original Harris bipod from the 1A2 series Model BRM features legs with multi-stage locking. The height adjustment for each leg is done via a push button, allowing for compensation of uneven ground. The feet are 150mm long when retracted and 230mm when extended. The construction is very robust with a weight of only 335g.
The Harris bipods allow the shooter to aim at the target without having to hold most of the weight of the weapon, as this is supported by the Harris bipod. With the Harris bipod, you have the advantage that the weapon can be stably positioned on almost any surface, and the movements of the shooter (breathing, shivering in cold, etc.) do not transfer as strongly to the weapon, allowing the shooter to remain in position longer and thus improving their point of impact. For decades, Harris bipods have been the best in the world - often copied, but never matched!
