Percussion Revolver, Euroarms of America, Rogers & Spencer (Uberti license), .44BP1977 was released by Luciano Amadi's company Euroarms as a replica of the revolver, which soon proved to be a robust and precise sporting device. The Rogers & Spencer revolver is a percussion revolver that was manufactured during the American Civil War by the company Rogers & Spencer in Utica, New York. At the height of the Civil War, the Union government commissioned the development of a new revolver. The goal was to create a new standard weapon for officers and cavalry. The U.S. government favored the concept of Rogers & Spencer (Willowvale/N.Y.) and ordered the revolver on November 29, 1864, in a batch of 5,000 pieces. Production did not begin until 1865, and the end of the war preceded mass production. Therefore, the weapon was only used sporadically in the Civil War. Production was soon halted due to lack of demand. Of the 5,800 weapons produced, the government took 5,000 and equipped parts of the army, police, etc. These weapons can be identified by the inspector mark RPB (for Robert P. Barry) pressed into the lower left grip panel. The weapons not distributed by the government were taken over in 1901 by Francis Bannerman, a New York dealer of military supplies, and entered the civilian market. The Rogers & Spencer revolver resembles the Remington New Model Army at first glance. In fact, the construction of the weapon externally resembled the Remington; like it, it had a closed frame and an octagonal barrel, both of which differ from later Colt percussion revolvers. An advantage of the weapon compared to those of other manufacturers was the good access to the piston, allowing the caps to be easily and straightforwardly placed. The top of the frame was stamped with ROGERS & SPENCER/UTICA N.Y. The revolver was manufactured in caliber .44 with a 7.5-inch barrel, total weight 1.3 kg, length 35 cm. It was loaded with paper cartridges, round or conical bullets. It was considered precise and well-crafted, which positively affected its functionality. Additionally, it was well-balanced to provide the shooter with the highest possible accuracy.
