Pulsar Merger LRF XQ35 – compact thermal imaging binoculars with rangefinder
The Pulsar Merger LRF XQ35 is a thermal imaging binocular in a classic binocular design, complemented by an integrated laser rangefinder. It is aimed at hunters who plan longer observations and value a relaxed viewing experience with both eyes. The compact design makes it particularly interesting for mobile use.
Sensor and detection performance
The Merger LRF XQ35 features a 384 × 288 VOx sensor with a 17 µm pixel pitch and a sensor NETD of < 25 mK. This sensor sensitivity ensures a stable image base. Supported by internal signal processing, a high-contrast image is produced, which displays details clearly even in humid air or with a small temperature difference. The detection range is up to 1,350 m.
Optics and field of view
The 35 mm F1.0 germanium lens efficiently collects heat signatures and offers a balanced ratio of range and overview. The optical base magnification of 3× can be digitally zoomed up to 12×. With a field of view of 10.7 × 8 degrees, the scene remains clear, making it easier to scan clearings, forest edges, or open areas.
Observation with both eyes
The binocular design allows for observation with both eyes. This noticeably relieves the eyes during longer sessions and improves the perception of fine details. The adjustable interpupillary distance of 62 to 74 mm allows for individual adaptation to the user.
Laser rangefinder
The integrated laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1,000 m with an accuracy of ± 1 m. Measurements can be taken as a single measurement or in continuous scan mode. This facilitates the safe assessment of distances, especially in open terrain or poor lighting conditions. The laser class 1 is not critical for hunting use.
Image display and adjustment
The image output is provided via two HD-AMOLED displays with 1024 × 768 pixels. The display appears calm and high-contrast. Through three levels of sensitivity enhancement, the user mode, and eight color palettes, the image can be specifically adjusted to terrain, weather, and personal preferences. Features like picture-in-picture support detail observation.
Battery, storage, and connectivity
The Merger LRF XQ35 uses a dual battery system consisting of an internal and a replaceable battery. Together, they provide a runtime of up to 11 hours. Photos and videos are stored in the 16 GB internal memory. The device can be connected to the Stream Vision 2 app via Wi-Fi (2.4 / 5 GHz) to transfer recordings or perform firmware updates.
Housing and practical use
The magnesium housing is stable yet relatively lightweight. It protects the technology from shocks, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. With an IPX7 protection class, the binoculars are waterproof and suitable for use in adverse conditions.
