With the CR 6.5, the gunsmith Haenel continues its long tradition in the manufacture of semi-automatic rifles. Once, the first assault rifle in history was built and developed at C.G. Haenel in Suhl. The CR is a semi-automatic rifle with a piston system based on the legendary AR 15 system. As a modern self-loader in centerfire configuration, the Haenel CR also functions as a gas-operated loader with a rotating bolt. The telescopic buttstock is adjustable in length in six stages. The rifle features a free-floating, cold-hammered barrel. The safety is ambidextrous.

C.G. Haenel has a long tradition as a manufacturer of semi-automatic and fully automatic sports and service weapons: With the StG44, the first assault rifle in the world was co-developed and manufactured at Haenel in Suhl in the 20th century. All the know-how of this weapon category flowed into the new development of the civilian CR and military MK models, which meet AR-15/M4 standards. An in-house production with cold forging equipment rounds off the expertise of the Suhl specialists. Here, sports and service weapons are manufactured that set standards in international comparison – made in Suhl, Germany.
