Self-loading rifle of Sport-Systeme Dittrich BD38, cal. 9mm Luger, civilian version of the German MP38. The MP 38 was the first submachine gun intended for mass production in Germany after the First World War, which, however, proved unfeasible due to the high material usage and labor effort. A significant constructive advantage was the low rate of fire, which made the weapon controllable even for inexperienced shooters. The "nose" and the rail under the barrel stem from its planned use as a weapon for tank crews. The nose was used to hook onto certain points while the rail protected the barrel from damage.
