RWS HIT Short Rifle 8x57JSWith the Short Rifle series, RWS addresses the issue of barrels becoming shorter due to suppressors. The cartridge is designed to ensure complete combustion of the powder within the barrel, allowing the projectile to be maximally accelerated upon leaving the barrel.Partially, there is now confusion regarding the designation of the caliber. Previously, the cartridge was referred to as 8x57IS. The IS stands for "Infanterie Spitz". For political reasons, however, the caliber is now referred to in the NWR only as 8x57JS (Jagd Spitz).
